Field inspection performed 11/17-11/18/15; the licensee was issued a ROV on 12/01/15 for a single (5+ year repeat) recordkeeping violation. Although the licensee's failure to timely/correctly record required disposition entries in redacted instances (equating to 20.5%, by volume) merits a Warning Conference by policy, it is alternatively recommended that the licensee receive the Warning Letter only for the following reasons: (1.) the bulk (78%) of the violation is the result of redacted duplicate entries with one of the two remaining discrepancies being an untimely disposition - all of these errors were immediately reconciled; and (2.) post-inspection query of eTrace revealed no derogatory (hit) results for the missing firearm - this issue to was also immediately resolved with the licensee's submission of the verified loss of inventory report. With DIO concurrence, a Warning Letter was generated and sent to the licensee (via certified post with return receipt) on 12/11/15. No further action required at this time.
I concur with the Area Supervisor’s alternate recommendation of Warning Letter and no recall inspection .
